Viewpoints AI

In this video, we demonstrate the interactive installation Viewpoints AI, which enables the co-creation of an improvisational movement-based proto-narrative together with a virtual interactor (named VAI) using open-ended expressive gestural interaction. The system procedurally interprets the aesthetics of expressive gestures using a formalization of the Viewpoints theatrical technique in order to co-create meaning. Shadow play for the human and digital projection for the virtual interactor are used in tandem to create a liminal virtual / real space for co-existence and play. This video demonstrates sample interactions between a dancer and VAI.

Digital Improv

In this video, Joshua Faubel demonstrates the Computational Co-Creativity Architecture (CoCoA) used in the Digital Improv project. CoCoA is the formal model (and corresponding software) of cognitive processes that are used by the artificial intelligence to reason about, and interact with, the human actor. The model is currently being extended for use in the Computational Play project.

Digital Improv: Party Quirks

In this video, Chris DeLeon demonstrates use of the Party Quirks game. Party Quirks features “Improvisational AI”, which is artificial intelligence that models the cognitive and behavioral processes used during improvisational theatre. Earsketch
